Cooking is awesomely fun

I'm bursting with pride. See, I've accomplished one of my goals for 2010 already. And look at that, only 5 days into the year!

Towards the end of 2009 I realised that I had absolutely no cooking skills. If I moved out to live by myself - and believe me I plan to do that as soon as I can and definitely at a younger age than my brother - I would starve.

Aside from instant noodles and scrambled eggs, I had nothing.

So... yesterday I got my first lesson in making dinner. Aunty showed me how to make rice, and I got ridiculously excited when I opened up the rice cooker and actually found the rice all cooked. It was amazing.

Then I got inspired. Had visions of myself in the kitchen, doing it Masterchef-style. In reality I only managed to stirfry beef with tomatoes and peas.

And today's dinner was chicken with cabbage and capsicum, sprinkled with pepper. You should see me in the kitchen. It's so much fun cooking and just chucking spices and ingredients into the pan!

As with most chefs, I even have a special ingredient that I use. It's tomato sauce.

Seriously, I use it in all my meals. Mum looked at me with a "WTF? Weirdo!" face but I think it adds a little something to the food. Trust me. Tomato sauce. Use it.

Satisfaction is mine. Not counting the unfortunate incident with the knife, so far it's gone great. I could be the next Poh! Err okay, I'm probably not that good. BUT my goal was to learn how to cook and I'll be damned, I can actually do it.

Behold!
